A beautiful sunny Independence Day made this year memorable as the tricolors of the Indian flag unfolded under a beautiful clear blue sky. Our respected speakers were Mrs Maya Sharan, Lt Gen Narayan Chatterjee and Air Vice Marshal Amit Aneja. Our audience included parents of Diksha children and other guests and donors.
Following the flag hoisting ceremony and the opening speeches, there was a brilliant pageant presented by the four houses of Diksha depicting four events during the non-violence freedom fight led by Mahatma Gandhi. The four depicted events were Bengal Partition, Jalianwala Bagh, Dandi March and Quit India Movement. It was the result of great effort and creativity by teachers and great acting by children and led to a magnificent reality show which evoked deep emotions and memories in many who attended while forever etching the pages of Indian history in the minds of the children. The pictures tell the story of the day. Many thanks to Sonia, Neha, Ritika and Aastha for capturing the poignant moments.
