Children in Class 8 at Diksha School is now participating in an exciting and enterprising environment-enhancing Neem Tree Planting Project initiated by the Forest Department in Gurgaon, Haryana. Under their initiative, Diksha received mud, fertilizers and a 1000 plastic bags. The children under the guidance of the Teacher-in-Charge dug and prepared the area for planting Neem seeds. The entire school has participated in collecting Neem pods. The children are excited to be part of this Project.

On 14th July 2016, Dr. Ramesh Saxena, Chairman and Trustee, Neem Foundation visited the school and gave a very informative and detailed visual presentation on ” Neem for Solving Global Problems” to students of Classes 8, 9 and 10 followed by a question and answer period. It was a great opportunity for students to understand the very important role of the Neem tree in helping to save the environment and obtain greater awareness about its many natural and organic uses in agriculture. He also demonstrated the use of Neem fertilizers and the proper way to extract the seeds for planting in the prepared area. He also suggested incentives and awards to students once the 1000 saplings are ready to be planted around Palam Vihar during a Neem Tree Planting Drive while those plants not used are to be returned to the Forest Department.
